Vera Wang – USA Celebrity, Fashion DesignerVera Ellen Wang (New York, United States, June 27 of 1949) known as Vera Wang, is a USA fashion designer. She gained worldwide recognition for her collection of wedding dresses.

Vera Wang was born in 27 June, 1049 in New York City. She was raised in Manhattan’s Upper East Side in the New York City and her parents from China origin. They came in New York from Shanghai, China in 1940s. Her mother was a translator in New York and father was a business man, had a medicine company. 

The fashion designer Vera Wang attended the Chapin girl’s private school in Manhattan and later at the Sorbonne in France. In the Faculty of Fine Arts, Sarah Lawrence College received the BA in Art History. Her mother encourages her in Fashion designing & took her to fashion shows in Paris. 

A talented figure skater Vera Wang began figure skating at 6 years old, in high school of Paris she practice with her Paris partner James Stuart. 1968, Vera championships competed in figure skating in the United States even appeared in "Faces in the Crowd" in this year's edition of the magazine Sports Illustrated. When failed to make the U.S. Olympic team, she devoted herself in fashion world.

Vera Wang joined fashion magazine Vogue as a senior editor in 1970 and continue 16 years for Vogue. In 1985, she retired from Vogue after being turned down for the post of editor in chief. Vera brand joined Ralph Lauren as a design director for two years. In 1990, she set up her own workshop design at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. Vera Wang has designed costumes for figure skaters. She also designed the wedding dresses of major celebrities: M. Carey, JLZ, V. Beckham, J. Garner, S. Stone, U. Thurman, S. Bush, J. Simpson, A. Lavigne, C. V. Clinton, H. Duff, H. Hunter, Khloé Kardashian and Kim Kardashian among others. An outfit she designed for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer appeared in the episode "The Prom". Sarah Michelle Gellar, the actress who played Buffy, also wore one of her dresses for her wedding to actor Freddie Prinze Jr.
Vera was also responsible for designing the two-piece uniforms worn by cheerleaders football team Philadelphia Eagles.

She also wrote the book "Vera Wang on Weddings" which was released in October 2001. In 2002, Vera Wang began to enter the home fashion market. In June 2005, she was named Women swear Designer of the Year by the CDFA (Council of the Fashion Designers of America). The May 27, 2006, Vera was awarded the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award from the College of Art and Design in Savannah. The August 24, 2006, the department store Kohl's announced it would sell clothes, accessories, shoes and linens designed by Wang.

Vera Wang currently resides in New York. In 1989 she married Arthur Becker, and their two adopted daughters, Cecilia (b. 1990) and Josephine (1993), who also attended The Chapin School. Arthur is the manager of a technology services company called NaviSite. Both have a rest house in Pound Ridge, New York, where Vera's brother owns the Pound Ridge Golf Club. In July 2012 couple announced their separation on media.  

Vera Wang appeared as a judge on the third season of the reality show Project Runway in 2007, that same year she also participated in an advertising campaign for the brand Hewlett-Packard, along with other celebrities like the singer Bono, rapper Jay-Z, supermodel Petra Nemcova, tennis player Serena Williams and the Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho.

Vera Wang’s little boutiques are located in New York, Boston, Beverly Hills and Waikiki.
