Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is an US boxer, currently undefeated as a professional. Widely considered the greatest boxer of his era, Floyd Mayweather was born on February 24, 1977, in Michigan. He won 3 national Golden Gloves & an Olympic bronze medal in 1996 & became a professional boxer that same year. By 2007, Floyd was considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world & had 38 undefeated bouts. He retired in 2008, but came back to the ring in September 2009.

Boxing is in his blood. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., was a welterweight contender & his uncle Jeff Mayweather is a former IBO super featherweight champion. Roger Mayweather - another uncle, is a former WBC super-lightweight champion.
His father send Mayweather to the gym not long after he started walking, holding his little boy in front of speed bags everytime they visited. Very soon, Mayweather was throwing punches at anything that came in his view. When he was 7 years old, he was fitted for his first pair of boxing gloves. Young Floyd, as he was known, became a staple at his nearby gym, which was conveniently located just 5 doors down from his home.

His father had a violent temper & drifted in & out of danger. Away from his family complicacy, Floyd Mayweather found peace & control in the ring. Known as “Pretty Boy” early in his career for his unmarked face, Mayweather earned the National Golden Gloves in 1993, 1994 & 1996. While he finished 84-6, his pre-professional career stoped bitterly at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta when he lost a controversial decision & was forced to settle for a bronze medal.
With his father serving as both manager & trainer, he won a number of easy bouts during his first 2 years, which he capped off by capturing the WBC junior lightweight championship. In 2007, he defeated Oscar Hoya for the WBC super welterweight crown. In 2010, he was the third highest paid American athlete with income of more than 60 million USD for the year. Recently, Mayweather has brought his star power to television. He appeared as a contestant on ABC Television's “Dancing with the Stars”.
Outside the ring, Mayweather has fought different kinds of battles. In 2011, a Las Vegas judge sentenced him to ninety days in prison after he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge & no contest to two harassment charges.
In May 2013, he was the top news when he won a 12-round bout against Robert Guerrero in a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather, father of four children, resides in Las Vegas.
