Elle Macpherson – Australian Celebrity, Actress, Model, Businesswoman

Elle Macpherson or Eleanor Nancy Gow was born on 29th March, 1964 in Sydney of Australia, to entrepreneur & former president of a Sydney rugby league club Peter Gow & his wife Frances, who worked as a nurse. She is the eldest of 4 children.

Elle Macpherson was just seventeen when she starred in an advertisement for a low calorie drink and it was the residual payments from its repeated showing & distribution that helped influence her that modelling could be a profitable profession as well as a alluring lifestyle.

But even before her ascendancy to modelling fame, Macpherson was no unfamiliar person to the soaring life. After her parents divorced in her early adolescence, her mother remarried multimillionaire Neil Macpherson, the proprietor of a chain of stereo equipment stores.

After a short stint studying law at Sydney University, Macpherson was "discovered" while on a ski vacation in Aspen of Colorado. A contract with Click Model Management soon pursued.

Similar to so many of her age group, it was the swimsuit edition of 'Sports Illustrated' that impelled her to public fame. The powerful and athletic Macpherson graced a record 5 Sports Illustrated covers. She fell in love with Gilles Bensimon who was twenty years her senior, the fashion photographer & publication director at Elle (another magazine which frequently featured her) and married him in 1986 & they divorced in 1989.

As well as appearances in the mainstay publications of the modelling world, Macphersonturned her SI success into contracts with Playboy and Victoria's Secret. For her work in the latter, she meshed a whopping twenty-five thousand dollar per page. The spread was 10 pages long. She afterward came 3rd in Playboy's 'Top Ten Sexiest Legs Ever'.

For a moment, Macpherson was one of the richest models in the business. She marketed a sequence of her own photo calendars & starred in a victorious fitness video. In 1995, People magazine integrated her in its '50 Most Beautiful People' issue.

But by the mid-1990s, she turned her concentration to acting. She appeared in numerous films, counting 'Batman and Robin' (1997), 'Sirens' (1995) and 'A Girl Thing' (2001), a miniseries for the Showtime Network. Her personality was viewed as contentious as she was a young woman trialing with bisexuality.

She also appeared in a sequence of episodes of the hit TV sitcom 'Friends' between 1999 & 2000. Critical response to her dramatic attempts was at best mixed, and at worst, unbecoming.

During 2009, she played modeling agent Claudia Foster in 'The Beautiful Life' with Mischa Barton. It pursued aspiring models working for a modeling agency in New York, however it was cancelled after two episodes.

Macphersonalso experienced mixed achievement in the business area. Her own line of lingerie, Elle Macpherson Intimates, is the pinnacle selling trademark in Australia. But, her partnership with fellow supermodels Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer in the creation of the Fashion Cafe was fewer fruitful. The troubled restaurant endeavor went into receivership in 2000.

In spring 2010, Macpherson prolonged her 'Intimates' lingerie line with new underwear variety 'Obsidian'.

In 1998, she & her long-time boyfriend Arpad "Arkie" Busson, a French banker who had a son, Flynn. Macpherson & Busson were married in 2002 and had their 2nd child, Aurelius Cy Andrea in 2003, but 2 years later their liaison ended.

Building on her business achievements with Intimates, Elle also unconfined her own range of beauty products 'Elle Macpherson – The Body' in 2005, which flashed an appearance on the BBC's 'The Money Programme', subsequent her in her day-to-day life running a company.

She then went back to modeling, becoming the face of Revlon cosmetics in March 2008. Macpherson signed a 3 years deal to become its representative and has since featured in print & TV advertising campaigns for the brand name.

July, 2010, she took over from Lisa Snowdon, host of the popular British franchise of the 'Top Model' sequence, shaped by Tyra Banks. Acting as executive producer of the show, the renewed 'Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model' also features other noted fashion names Grace Woodward and Julien Macdonald.

Her edition has proved a hit with audience, & has incorporated a live final, which no other sequence has featured. The show maintains to go from strength to strength, and it is most current winner Jade Thompson was declared on  September 27, 2011.

Macpherson also undertakes lots of work on behalf of charities. She is a European diplomat for RED, which is an initiative set up by Bono & Bobby Shriver to eradicate infection, in particular Aids, among women & children in Africa.

She’s also an UNICEF diplomat is a representative for Smile in Australia, which aids families with children suffering rare diseases. In 2007, she modelled to increase funds for British flooding wounded veterans, victims, and child welfare group Absolute Return for Kids.

At the present in her 40s, Elle still frequently graces the frontage cover of many magazines. Elle Macpherson expends most of her time in Britain with her 2 sons and just ended her 2 year relationship with multi-millionaire Jeff Sofer.
